We Need Your Help!

A while back I'd commented that photography was not our forte.  Well, I sort of forgot about one other thing.  Naming.  It is also not our forte.  Maybe the world is divided into designers and doers.  We're doers.  No doubt about it.  Tell us what you want and we can make it.  Just don't ask us what to call it.  :)

I suppose it's a bit obvious if you look at http://www.playfulpeanut.com/.  I mean, "hair clips," "soother clips," and "nursing covers."  Descriptive, yes.  Clever, not exactly.

So before we launch our next product, we're looking for your help.  What is our next product?  Well, it's basically a reusable ziploc bag (see, I TOLD you we needed your help :).  It a 6 inch square bag made with designer cotton on the outside, and a water repellant, food-safe liner on the inside (a quick note - if you opt to buy a similar product that isn't ours, I would encourage you to do your homework on what's used for the liner - there are lots of options out there, but not many that I would consider food safe and trust for my family to use).  There's a generous velcro enclosure across the top to keep the bag closed.  The seams are all professionally serged (but hidden, so you'd never know it :).  They are also sewed separately to make it really easy to wipe your bag clean (we love Norwex cloths for quick cleans!).  Got a big mess in there (mustard?  or maybe melted chocolate?) - no problem.  These are machine washable (we just recommend you line dry as opposed to tossing them in the dryer - not only more environmentally friendly, but just a better alternative for any handmade product).

If you or your kids pack a lunch, these will be the next must-have item on your list.  No one ever said being environmentally friendly had to be boring.  Nor saving money - because not only do plastic snack bags litter our earth, they also burn up your hard-earned money!

So, here's our plea.  Our new product needs a name.  Got one?  Either post it on our Facebook Fan page, or email it to us at yourplayfulpeanut@gmail.com.  And even though we aren't creative enough to come up with a name on our own, we appreciate those who are.  So the winning name is going to receive a 3-pack of our newest product!

Ta Da!

First off, THANK YOU for all the dress orders.  We're almost as excited to make them as you are to get them!

For all the pre-orders, the fabric is on order and will hopefully be here in the next week so we can get started.  In the meantime, I had fabric on hand for our first two creations.  Nadine, we hope you love them as much as we do...

PS - If you ever plan on opening up a shop in your basement, don't paint your nursery yellow - it is TERRIBLE lighting to use for taking pictures.

Carseat Canopy's

Keep your precious peanut covered from the sun, rain, wind and germs with this Carseat Canopy. These stylish canopy's are made with designer fabrics and have an added touch with buttons, flowers or ribbons on the straps. You will be surprised at the number of compliments this GREAT canopy will bring you!

It is one of the hottest new baby gear items on the market especially for those Spring and Summer babies.
We will also make them lined with minky dot or fleece on the underside for Winter babies to keep the chill out on those cold days.

This Canopy is approx 35 X 42 and attaches securely to the carseat handles with Velcro or Snaps so it will not get blown off in the wind like a blanket. It also features weighted corners to ensure it stays put. The carseat canopy "tents" your baby to allow for air flow. Its quiet darkness will allow your baby to sleep more peacefully too!

Want to see your baby...Just lift the bottom and fold it up over the handles, and you have access to your baby, with a stylish inside print showing (optional). The top-stitching detail adds a professionally finished look and adds to the durability of this product.

This makes a GREAT baby shower gift, or purchase one for your own little peanut!

We are the only shop that weights down the corners, How Cool!
I made myself one with the matching wipes case as we had a May baby but I still wanted something to keep the wind and rain off him.
Feel free to email yourplayfulpeanut@gmail.com to talk about fabric options. They are usually about $38.00.

Summer Dresses

Well I don't know about where you are,but in southern Manitoba summer was here today.  And I have the rosy shoulders to show it (that's what I get for spending my daughter's nap time outside ordering supplies online!).

Summer dresses were the topic of conversation at our Open House, so we did some looking for cute designs and here's what we came up with.  They are available to order.  Who wouldn't want a custom design?!  Prices are $15-20 depending on options.  Email yourplayfulpeanut@gmail.com to talk more!

Fun Mom

It's not often I'm confused for a Fun Mom.  Oh, don't get me wrong, we play and colour and dance and sing and all that sort of fun stuff, but MESSY fun?  It's not often...

Today was a dreary day in souther Manitoba, and on those days the best thing to do is bake (well, actually the best thing to do is curl up with a good book or take a nap, but those don't usually happen with a 2 year old running around).  Anyhow.  My husband was in need of some snacks for his lunch, and the bananas were just about perfect for making muffins.  SO that's what we did.

According to my playful peanut, the best part about the aprons we make are the pockets.  .  And to everyone who's asked if our aprons really are one size fits all, well, here's proof.  She's 2, and it fits her just fine, but you can see she's got lots of room to grow (thanks to the adjustable straps).  This is technically her Christmas apron, but her mom hasn't gotten around to making her a non-festive version (what's that old adage about the shoemaker's kids never having any shoes??).
Now for the Fun Mom part.  "I do it self" is the most heard phrase around this house lately.

She's so hard at work she isn't even looking at the camera to say cheese.  Obviously this baking business is hard work!
This pretty much sealed my title as Fun Mom today - yes, those are chocolate chips in those muffins.
Now if you'll excuse me, Fun Mom needs to go wash the floor.  It ain't pretty...

Photo Shoots!

We've said it before, and we'll probably say it many more times - pictures are the bane of our existence over here.  If we had a nickel for every person who's seen our products in person compared with our products in pictures - well, let's just say the pictures aren't doing the products justice.

Today, I think I may have found the solution to our problem...  In the form of my two year old.  I was attempting to take some pictures of our new oversized receiving blankets.  The goal was to get that nice "blowing in the wind" look, but every once in a while the wind would really pick up, and this irritated my daughter to no end.  What you can't tell from this picture is that she's actually saying, "wind, get away!" and grabbing the blanket to stop it from flapping like crazy.  Then when the wind would die down she'd wander back over to where I was standing until the next gust.
Speaking of these oversized receiving blankets - there are some smoking deals in the sale section if you're looking for a great baby gift - playfulpeanut.etsy.com!

Playing Around...

So my daughter's "boyfriend" turned 2 on Sunday (which means when he and my daughter get married he'll share a birthday with his mother-in-law, lucky guy!).  And you know what a birthday means?  An excuse to give gifts!

When you are considered crafty by those around you, there is generaly an expectation of creativeness in the gift.  The thing is, I don't actually consider myself creative. Being able to make something and being able to design something are two COMPLETELY different things.  But for some reason on Friday night as I was just finishing my home pedicure, the spirit moved me to create something clever for this little guy.  It all started from a passing comment about hooded towels at our Open House last week...  We've been getting requests to make them, and have actually started playing around with it a bit.  Well when his mom mentioned that is he OBSESSED (like OBSESSED) with roosters, I thought why not.  The fantastic thing about making stuff for kids is that they are an easily excited audience, and he did not disappoint!

I wish I had the picture of him wearing it, because the grin on his face says it all.  Instead, here it is, all folded and ready to be wrapped...
